US State Coins and The US Territories Quarter Proof Set
The 50 States Quarter Program began in 1999 and went through 2008. The US Mint began issuing the US State coins featuring each of the 50 individual states with unique designs on the back of each quarter. It has been a very successful endeavor with the US Federal government making around 4.6 billion and creating a whole new generation of enthusiastic collectors. This year a whole new set of coins in connection with the State coins will be released featuring the District of Columbia and US Territories Program. The new coins will be of the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the US Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands. This is not the same as the 50 States Quarter Program but a separate one altogether for new coin collections.
