United States Coins Old 'Hobo Nickels'
What is a Hobo Nickel? They are United States coins old and different denominations that were carved using mostly nickels in the early part of the last century from 1913 to 1940. A sculptural art form modifying the coin in a creative way. The nickel was favored for carving but there were actually many different coins used in the process. Talented coin engravers and people who just wanted to give it a try began creating these coins when the Buffalo nickel entered circulation in 1913.
