The Franklin Mint USA Coin Collecting - Is It Worth It?

USA coin collecting can get confusing for someone just starting out. What to buy, where and from whom are all questions that have to be answered before you get started. There are numerous types of gold or silver coins to purchase, some are valuable and some are not worth a whole lot.

The Franklin Mint is not associated with the US Mint but it did begin selling legal tender coins in 1964. A large number of the gold coins the Franklin Mint has produced over the years are novelty coins and medals. For some collectors the Franklin Mint does offer some exciting coins but keep in mind many have been altered by private companies or collectors. The Franklin Mint coins are beautiful but not rare and do not carry the high value of coins made by the US Mint.
